Welcome to the first post in the HACKING LIFE series! This series of episodes will include all the ways in which I RESHAP AND CUSTOMIZE LIFE ITSELF!
And in a less dramatic tone: This is where we’ll try to solve day to day problems using our creativity, programing skills, raspberry pi/Arduino, design skills, AND my beautiful Prusa MK3S+ 3d Printer.
I will write a separate post on the reasons why you need a 3d printer in your life, but as writers learn very early on – “Show. Don’t tell” (A writer’s moto).
So I joined a gym a while back, and have finally started to take it more seriously (Yeah, we’ll see how long that lasts). Going to the gym takes time. Being up to date on the new episodes of “The Arcane” also takes time. Well, I was walking on the boring treadmill thinking how nice it would be to combine the two activities, an original Idea I know. How nice, both the ellipticals and the treadmills have a dedicated slot for our mobile devices, and with a built in charger!. Engineering at its finest… NOT!
The charger is an old IPhone charger, you remember one of those:

Alright, forgivable. Times are tough and renewing our equipment is expensive, but why? WHY??
Why is the phone slot covering half of my screen on landscape?? How can I watch movies like that?!

Luckily, I get angry enough at poor design that I am simply compelled to SHAPE IT to my needs.
I proudly present you with the “I-hate-running-and-need-something-to-hold-my-phone-so-I-could-FORGET-‘tinator”:

See that BEAUTY?!
The slot is to attach a phone magnet holder I had lying around. Connecting to my raspberry Pie’s self hosted 3d printer web app, slicing the file, clicking Print, and 3 hours later…. VOILA! –

FINALLY.
Now I can Netflix on the move.
Suffice it to say that I am getting weird looks at the gym for my daemonic device.. Jealous much?
Join me next time in another episode of HACKING LIFE.
Until then, remember – You are not a TREE. Adapt the surroundings to you.
